welcome to the pawsitive adventures
Welcome everyone today we will be talking about something that I personally never have had happen to me thankfully but has been brought to my attention that it is a big deal in other states , what might this subject be SERVICE ANIMAL THEFT after looking at a lot of these articles I am shocked of how "common" of a issue this is in other states. so I did some research on how to prevent Service dog theft and i will be sharing that with you.
microchipping
this is one of the most comment identification methods that most people use for not just service dogs but for pets. You might be wondering what is a microchip ? well a microchip is a small device implanted into the back of your dogs neck (scurf) that has important contact information that will come in handy if your pet or service animal ever gets stolen, some the information that can be included on a microchip can include the owners name phone number address and other contact information
tattooing
this is actually fairly new to me and I personally haven't done a lot of research on this method but apparently in some countries you can actually get a tattoo registry number for your dog I personally am not sure about in the United States (where i'm located) What i do know about dog tattooing us that it is mostly the purebred dogs that get them but any dog can get them and is a more visible method, please be sure to check with your local laws before tattooing your dog
identification tags
this is the most common and cheapest method of identification for any dog regardless if it's a service dog or not, most people commonly use cheap identification tags that have the dogs name along with the owners contact info and phone number on it
